Firmoo Eyeglasses Hands on Review (18)

Whether you’re wearing them for fashion only, or to protect your eyes from sunlight, or because you have a prescription, a pair of eyeglasses picked wisely can be a smart add-on for your outfit. They can make you look important, trendy or stylish, and you can select the right pair to look like a computer programmer, teacher, a business person, or even a star. Purchasing glasses online is not complicated, but if you’re not sure about the latest fashion trends, you should pick a classic model, and Firmoo is a great place for that.

Firmoo is the global online optical store where I got the pair of prescription glasses that you’ll read about in this review. They have various classic models for different purposes and you can browse the styles by frame shape, frame material, size, or specialty (computer, reading, etc.).

What I love about this store is that it makes it easy to find and purchase the best pair of eyeglasses. Prices are around $40 for a pair, but you can find designs for even less than $10. Product pages have photos from customers wearing the models, and you also have the possibility to upload your own photo to the Firmoo Virtual Try-On System to see how they look on you.

The best part is that the first pair of glasses from Firmoo is free and, like all the other models, each comes in a complete kit with case, cleaning cloth and other accessories.

To get a new pair of glasses, you have to enter the prescription details from your doctor in the required fields and select the type of glasses you need (distance, reading, computer, frame only, etc.). After that you have to select from different add-ons like lens thickness, material type and enhancements.

The standard lenses included in the free glasses program are 1.5 lenses with anti-scratch hard coating and shatter resistance.

The model I picked for this review is the LYST510 and I needed prescription lenses for distance. Like many of those who order glasses online, I was afraid that if I don’t try them on prior to purchasing, they will either be too big or will look funny on me, but the photos sent by customers and published on the model’s page helped me decide on these.

I went to see my ophthalmologist to get the prescription details and then I submitted them into the online form.

My glasses come in black with red rubber accents and are made of a plastic material that feels nice at touch, similar to those computer mice with soft, rubber-like finish. This is a classic, unisex design with rectangular lenses which looks good on anyone. The lack of removable nose pads and metal parts in the frame makes them so lightweight and easy to handle. I like that the curved sides of the frame prevent my hair from sticking to cheeks. I also like the hinge mechanism that hides the screws so you can access them only from below. The specs of my pair are: 1.5 index lenses with anti-radiation and UV coating, and scratch- and shatter resistance.

Included Accessories

Together with the pair of eyeglasses I got a black case with the Firmoo logo on it, a large and pink cleaning cloth, a carry pouch made from a rubber-like material, and a screw that attaches to the keyring, which I will use to take off the lens and clean them thoroughly from time to time with the included cloth. This is perfect because it saves money you have to spend on these accessories when you purchase them separately.

Price and Availability

If you like my pair you can purchase it online from Firmoo, starting at $39. You can get it for free if you’re a new customer, having to pay for the shipping only, but you can also customize it with your required add-ons from the list.
