Published by Sierra Monica P. on March 23, 2010 under Giveaways
Digiarty is a company focused on developing multimedia software that can be used by computer users of all experience levels and their flagship product is WinX DVD Ripper Platinum, a fast and powerful DVD ripping tool that allows you to rip DVDs to all popular video formats. Other software solutions provided by Digiarty are used in backups, video conversion, and DVD authoring, all having names starting with “WinX”.
The computer program we’re reviewing today is WinX HD Video Converter Deluxe 3.2, a great alternative to the popular WinX HD Video Converter. It’s a complete solution for converting between the most popular video formats, packing 160 video codecs and 50 audio codecs, while coming with support for multi-track High Definition videos available in BDAV, M2TS, MKV, AVCHD, HDTV and MPEG-TS formats.
Anyone can use the program to convert their videos for the iPhone, iPad, iPod, Apple TV, PS3, PSP, Xbox, Zune, PDA, smartphones, Android, Zen and other similar gadgets.
Key features of WinX HD Video Converter Deluxe include support for multi-CPU computers, Hyper Threading, convertion speeds between 5x and 15x, conversion between High Definition and SD, support for Blu-ray, BDAV and M2TS, many adjustable parameter settings, the ability to help you fix corrupt videos, and the possibility to extract audio (as MP3) and images (as BMP or JPG) from videos.

The software runs on computers with Microsoft Windows 98, NT, 2000, 2003, XP, Vista, or Windows 7.

Installing WinX HD Video Converter Deluxe:
The installation kit is of 7.70MB and occupies only 30.4MB of disk space. Besides its small package and footprint, it installs quickly and the setup is similar to all the other Windows software we are all used with. You have to choose which shortcuts you need to create and that’s all.

The Interface:
I can say I was pleasantly surprised when the program opened. The user interface is extremely simple and intuitive so it’s impossible not to figure out how to use it within 2 seconds, even if your experience with video converters is little. More than that, the look and feel of the interface suggests that the developer likes to take care of every aspect of it.
There is a single page that provides access to all the program’s options and settings, which means it won’t give you headaches by hiding tones of options in submenus. You can learn the 4 basic steps for video conversion on the page and if you are an experienced user you can select your preferred settings from the bottom half.
The program doesn’t have a full-screen mode and occupies about 880 x 690 pixels of your screen, but you can minimize it to the system tray at any time, to reveal your other opened application windows and files.

What you can do with WinX HD Video Converter Deluxe:
With WinX HD Video Converter Deluxe you can covert HD videos to standard video formats and vice versa.
For instance, if you have a standard AVI file and want to benefit from the new support for High Definition videos on YouTube you have to select “to HD Video” and then “to HD YouTube” from the submenu.
In case you want to convert your file in an iPod supported format for playback on the handset while on the go, you have the “to Apple” option and then you have to select “to iPod”.
Same method applies when you need to convert files to the Microsoft Zune format, for BlackBerry, for Nokia handsets, or to Sony PS3 HD.

There is also the option to extract only the audio from a video file, which will be saved as MP3, but you also can extract single frames and save them as BMP or JPEG.
Settings:
For each video you want to convert you can use your preferred settings, choosing the audio quality, audio sample rate, volume level, the format, the video quality and frame rate, the output format for the video, the video codec, the output image size, the video resolution, the number of CPU cores, if you have a multi-core processor, the Advanced De-interlace Accelerator, the use of the High Quality Engine, and the use of the Intelligent A/V Synchronizer.
In the Rename menu at the top you have the option to rename the file with its resolution, ClipID, length, date, and serial number.
Support:
I am not an expert in using video converters, so I didn’t manage to find out how to extract images from videos by myself. I needed some help with this and looked for a Help section, Tutorials or other forms of support.
The program doesn’t come with a Help menu with manuals, but you can check the Resource section on the developer’s website. There you can browse through several How-to articles available for every software provided by Digiarty, including WinX HD Video Converter Deluxe.
Well, I didn’t find step-by-step instructions about hot to extract images from my video, but I received a clear answer via email from their representative.
Conclusion:
WinX HD Video Converter Deluxe from Digiarty is a great video conversion solution for anyone who wants to use a single software with easy-to-use settings and an eye-catching user interface for converting between the most popular video formats, including HD videos.
The software is available for purchase on the developer’s website, but you have the possibility to download the trial version for free. The trial has a limit of 5 minutes for 5-minute files and of half the video if it’s shorter than 5 minutes. It comes without the Start Time option.

I could really use a full version converter. I’ve been limited, so far, to free versions. Having a larger range of options would be very helpful.
I don’t currently have much experience with video conversion software. I think Digiarty’s WinX HD Video Converter Deluxe looks very interesting!
I need to win dammit!
