You’ve probably seen many USB heated gloves models on the Internet, available in different colors and designs, at affordable prices, and asked yourself a lot of questions, such as how they work, if they are of good quality, how safe they are, if they heat the skin too much and so on, without having someone to provide you with the answers.
Well, I have been curious about this type of gadget, too, until recently, when I received a pair of grey USB gloves from Mobile Fun for review. Having the chance to use them during the last few days I am now ready to tell you all the details about this gadget and help you decide if to get a pair for yourself or to make a gift.
As you can see in my photos, these USB gloves come in grey, a neuter and classic color, looking like standard wool gloves in the half-finger design and with a fingers cover, which would look good on both women’s and men’s hands. This design allows you to wear them while using your fingers only, or while grabbing things with your hand.
Even if I can’t stand wool clothes on my body, these USB heated gloves are comfortable for my hands skin. There is no itchy sensation, not even after one hour of wearing.
Each glove has two warming pads inside, one placed right above your palm and one above your fingers, located in the cover part.
Using the USB heated gloves:
As the gadget’s name suggests, these gloves power via the USB connectivity to warm your hands while typing on the keyboard and using your mouse.
Each glove has a white wire passing through the material and without having the possibility to take it off you won’t be able to wear them outside while walking or doing other activities. They were designed to be used only while for computer activities.
To use them properly you have to connect each glove’s white wire to a black wire, which then has to be pluged into the computer’s USB port. Practically, you have two gloves and four wires. Each glove connects to a computer USB port individually so you’ll need to make sure you have two free USB ports, otherwise you can get an USB hub like mine.
If you need to warm one hand only, while keeping the other free, you can connect only the right or left glove.
Once connected, you have to turn on the small switches located on the black cables and wait for the gloves to warm. Now you’re probably wondering how much are they warming your hands. I can tell you that these USB heated gloves won’t burn your skin and they are perfectly safe. They warm your hands within, let’s say, 5-10 minutes, depending on the heating level you choose, and keep them warmed until you turn the switches off. The temperature inside the gloves is not very high so your skin won’t sweat.
In the default mode, the switches are off and there are two heating levels you can choose from, depending on the surrounding temperature and your hands’ temperature. The two levels are labeled with one bar and two bars, respectively, and the difference between the heating levels is noticeable.
Maybe the most important aspect of this is ergonomics and I can tell you that the gloves will slow your typing at the beginning, until you get used with them, but after that everything gets much easier.
I think the USB gloves are great for people with blood circulation problems, who have cold hands even during summer.
You can use the USB heated gloves with any system featuring USB connectivity, such as your desktop computer, laptop, Mac system or gaming console. They measure 19 x 10.5 cm and cover your wrists, too, raising the temperature inside with up to 10 degrees in 5 minutes, according to the specifications.
I recommend the USB gloves to anyone who has problems controlling their hands’ temperature and to those who just want to keep their hands warm while using the laptop in places where the heating is not working properly, such as inside the car, bar, train, in the park and so on.
The gloves are of good quality and can be used with or without the heating, but there’s one thing I like less, which you might have already guessed – you can’t wash them.
Besides these, the USB gloves would make a great gift idea.
If you too like them you can get them from Mobile Fun, a popular UK-based online shop with all kinds of mobile accessories, for a price of £13.47, or about $20.
We want to thank MobileFun.co.uk for sending us the USB gloves for review!
