During this year’s edition of Baselworld, the World Watch and Jewellery Show, Ulysse Nardin showcased a new hybrid smartphone named the Chairman, which is the world’s first model featuring a mechanical watch rotor system that powers the battery using kinetic energy produced by the rotor’s motion.
This is how the automatic watches work and this technology is used for the first time in a cell phone.
In order to create this innovative luxury cell phone resulting from the partnership with SCI Innovations, Ulysse Nardin combined high-quality materials like 18k solid gold, steel and sapphire glass, with the latest technologies. The phone comes with a 2.8-inch multi-touch display, built-in 5MP digital camera with video recorder function, fingerprint recognition, Internet browser, email support and Wi-Fi connectivity. It keeps the specific design elements of Ulysse Nardin – the anchor and the winding rotor on the back of the handset.
The luxury cell phone is available for pre-orders now and prepared for release this fall.
In addition to the currently introduced models – Rose Gold, Rose Gold & Blue, Rose Gold & Steel, Stealth Black and Steel & Blue, Ulysse Nardin announced several others coming soon, which you may admire on the official website.
