Many parts of day-to-day life are increasingly driven by data, a fact that impacts most of us on both a personal and a professional level. While the Information Age has created unprecedented opportunities and levels of efficiency in our lives, it does present us with one serious challenge: the need to safeguard the very data that makes these advances possible.
Losing files is unacceptable
Data can be lost in a variety of ways. Files may become corrupted and unusable because of a virus or worm; alternatively, they can be rendered useless by applications or the operating system itself should something unexpected occur in their internal workings.
