Every time I receive a phone call, I have to move quickly and slide over the big dots on the screen to unlock the phone, then drag the call indicator, and this takes several precious seconds, while my hand starts trembling a bit if I select the wrong unlocking pattern. In case you’re wondering what that is, it’s a cool unlocking pattern for Android phones, which you can use as a fun alternative to the pin. It’s true that a Bluetooth headset can eliminate this problem because you can press the dedicated button near your ear to answer calls, but headsets can become uncomfortable to wear after several hours and you’d probably get back to the basic way for answering calls. In order to help you with these, I want to present you SoundWave, a small gadget that you can use anywhere to place or answer phone calls even while listening to the music.
SoundWave SW50 was developed by Slick Distributions to support Bluetooth 3.0 connectivity with up to two Bluetooth-enabled phones, at the same time, and even with a laptop computer. The gadget featuring built-in rechargeable battery and noise suppression for a clear sound, free of background noises, comes in a stylish and compact form, black or white, with a glossy finish. The rubberized bottom prevents it from slipping off tables, and you can increase the stability using the included glossy pad.
SoundWave is a powerful speakerphone that enables loud and clear sounds during phone conversations and music playback. When you’re listening to music and someone calls, the music is automatically paused so you can start the conversation, and for this you only have to press the front button once. The button answers a phone call, redials the last number or rejects a phone call. If your phone supports voice dialing, you can use this feature through the SoundWave. In case you have guests and you want to keep the conversation private, keep the button pressed for three seconds to transfer the call to your phone. I use this feature when someone comes in the room and I speak to my husband. It works great – three seconds to transfer the call back to the phone for private mode, three seconds to transfer it to SoundWave.
In the included user manual, I read about the multipoint support so you can connect to two phones or two music devices at the same time. I tested the feature with calling and I could place two phone calls through the Bluetooth speaker, but one goes on hold when the second called person answers.
In addition to the above capabilities, SoundWave SW50 supports Bluetooth-based wireless connectivity within a 10-meter range, but, and this is a great thing, unlike the connection through other Bluetooth devices, which gets interrupted when I was going to another room, this speaker phone maintains the same performance level, regardless of where you are within these 10 meters.
Getting back to the battery, the device comes with a miniUSB-to-USB cable for recharging either via a computer or using an adapter. The specifications list mentions a charging time of two hours, which saves time, but in my case, recharging wasn’t necessary yet because I have been using it for several days and there’s no sign that the battery runs out. That’s possible thanks to a super-long standby time of 400 hours, which translates to about 16 days. How cool is that? Next, the talk time is of up to 12 hours, while for continuous music playback, you can use it for three hours.
I don’t know what else to tell you about this little gadget except that I love it, it’s very useful for handsfree phone calls and music, has super-simple operation, looks good on any desk, and I think it’s worth every penny. Oh, and if you use it with the iPhone or iPad, which are the devices it was designed for, you will see the battery status indicator for SoundWave, on the screen. Purchase it from MobileFun.co.uk for £19.99, where you also can find the fashionable Jambone Jambox speakers.
Thanks, Mobile Fun, for providing the product sample!
