You got a new smartphone and before deciding on an expensive case, you probably start looking for a cheap option to protect the handset until you finish your research to find the best case. Many start with a simple silicone case or a plastic hard case and the model I want to show you now is a nice gel case for Samsung Galaxy S II Plus, coming from Tmart.com.

I always wondered myself where the name “gel cases” comes from but all I came up with was the finish of these cases. It looks like made from gel. The case is flexible, which makes it easy to set on the phone and has an elegant mirror finish.

The case is raised just a little bit on the display margins which makes it a reliable bump protection. The flexibility of the plastic material should absorb some of the shock in case of accidental drops. Anyway, the first thing I should have mentioned about this case is the protection against scratches on both the back and sides, but I’m sure you already thought of that.

As you can see in the photos, there are covers for both buttons on the sides. The cover for the larger button the left side is split in two and it feels easier to adjust the volume like that, unlike when having one large cover, like in other cases.

Another thing I like about this case, in addition to the mirror finish, flexibility and the split button cover is the cutout for the charging cable, which is large enough to fit the miniUSB tip of my portable battery charger, the Energizer XP4001, which has larger tips when compared to the charging cable that came with the phone.

The phone used for this review was a Samsung Galaxy S II Plus. Those of you who already have this model probably have already encountered the annoying problem caused by the incompatibility with Galaxy S II cases. S II plus accessories are rare and besides this, the two smartphones have different sizes, despite of the specifications on different sites, where they are presented as identical. In short, hard cases for Samsung Galaxy S II don’t match Samsung Galaxy S II Plus, but the good news is that flexible cases are compatible, so the gel case here will match both smartphones.
