Q Knot Original Multipurpose Reusable Ties - Review

I must admit I’ve never used zip ties before and not because they are not efficient in keeping my cables organized, but because you just can’t untie them. They aren’t designed for that and to remove them you have to cut them. Still, having so many cables around, I need to keep them separated so they won’t get tangled and break. For this I would need something that can be easily tied and released, and to be made from a special material that won’t leave scratches on the cables.

The second option these days would be rubber bands, but these are more fragile and you can use them with big items that don’t have a smooth surface.

I can say I solved this problem with the latest product received for review, the UT Wire solution – Q Knot – created as an alternative to both hard plastic zip ties and rubber bands.

It seems that with Q Knot you can do a lot of things, not only tie your cables. You can use different sizes Q Knots to organize cables, seal bags, bundle several objects and so on. The size of the object is not a problem, as you can connect more ties together to create a larger tie.

What I like at Q Knot is the soft material it’s made from and the non-slip gripping teeth, which don’t leave marks, holding objects firmly. The self-locking design makes Q Knots reusable for as many times as you need. They don’t break and you can easily release them to tie other objects. They come in different sizes and colors so you can fit objects of different thicknesses and even color-code items around your home or office.

My Q Knots are the Original version. The pack includes 12 stretchable and flexible Q Knots available in three sizes. The smallest ones are yellow and the middle-sized ones are green, while the longest ties are red. I can say this new type of tie is a combination of rubber bands and zip hard plastic ties.

I am using mine with cables of phones, camera and hair dryer, as well as with some bags filled with food for my birds and the larger one holding cat litter. I recommend these for all the items in your home or office. They are great organizers!

While browsing the official page I also found out that Q Knot is an award-winning product which has received an IF Product Design Award 2012. It is available for purchase in many places, for around $7 per pack. In addition to Q Knot Original, UT Wire provides the Q Knot Pro reusable multipurpose ties with triangular teeth for tighter locking, cord protectors and concealers, portable cord wrappers, cord channels, flex-and-twist ties, and cable stations.
