Today we are reviewing an all-in-one set of accessories designed for LG Viewty KU990, the first mobile phone with DivX support featuring a built-in 5MP digital camera. If you own this phone model you probably already know how hard it is sometimes to find matching accessories.
We’ve received the Platinum Pack For LG KU990 Viewty from Mobile Fun for review and want to take each item from the set and tell you all the details about it.
First I have to tell you that the pack gathers several items from different manufacturers and is offered in a nice black box with the online store’s logo in silver, for a price of £29.83, which is much lower than the total cost in case you get the products separately.
Inside the box you can find no less then eight different accessories, some of which are in charge with protecting your handset while maintaining it’s stability in the place you want to keep it, others enabling quick file transfers including wireless, while two of them are making sure your handset is always charged so you won’t miss any call.
Even if the designs don’t seem to be created especially for women, the items feature a minimalistic yet stylish look, coming in small form factors to not require much space in your office or inside your car, all working together to pamper your cell phone.
Item number 1: The Screen Protector
I started the review with the screen protector because mine was broken, as one of my parrots made an obsession for it lately. Generally, these screen protectors are very durable so there is almost no way to break one accidentally.
The one I found inside the Platinum Pack For LG KU990 Viewty comes from SCreate and is called the Invisible Screen Protector for LG KU990/KE998. It comes with instructions, a cleaning cloth and a small card for removing bubbles.
It’s not an Invisible Shield, but I can tell you it applies very easy so you won’t have to worry about bubbles or wrong application. You also won’t have to throw it away if it’s misplaced, but try again until you set it right.
The screen protector looks different than in the image shown on the product’s page, and the cleaning cloth would have been better to be from microfiber, as this is the most appropriate material for cleaning displays and other glossy surfaces, due to its special properties.
It features anti-scratch and anti-glare properties, having 99% transparency.
I was saying it’s very easy to apply it, so let me tell you how I did this, taking into account the fact that it’s the first time when I am applying a screen protector.
First you need to clean the handset’s display with the included cloth, and I advise you to use it together with an LCD cleaning spray or a similar solution. This will remove dust particles and degrease the margins of the display.
As the cloth is not from microfiber you’ll see that it won’t absorb the solution quickly, rather spreading it allover the screen. In this case you can use a soft napkin to remove the excess solution.
When the screen is dried you can continue with finding the Tab 1 on the screen protector and peel it back two inches or so, then stick the screen protector’s margin to the display margin, aligning it carefully. Slowly stick it down while sliding the included card down to the top of the handset. As you already guessed you have to start with the bottom of the cell phone while keeping it upside down.
When you’re done just peek back Tab 2 with the cover layer.
Item number 2: The Desktop Cradle
I’ve always liked the idea of keeping my cell phone close to me on my office desk, so when I need to answer calls or use the handset for something else, to be able to do it fast.
The desk stand here is a good solution for my need, which allows me to perform different tasks via the touchscreen, without holding the handset and use both hands.
The stand keeps it in one place and is very stable. It also has a nice glossy black finish and is lightweight, in addition to the two cable clips on the sides and a flexible hand that allows you to insert the handset or take it out at any time. Well, that’s the thing I like less at the cradle. It would have been more practical to feature a tilt system that would offer stability without the need for the flexible hand that might leave scratches on the silver margins of the handset in time. Still, it’s a good solution for those who use the speakerphone for conversations.
The desktop cradle consists of two pieces that you have to assembly in a few seconds.
Item number 3: The Car Holder
This would be one of your LG Viewty accessories for use in the car. It is a smart phone holder that features a windscreen suction mount, a flexible arm that you can adjust at any angle you wish, as well as a support for a picture on the holder, but the smartest thing about it is the holding system that features adjustable horizontal space for your cell phone. It activates at the press of a dedicated button and enlarges until you stop pressing the button. After setting the handset inside, in the best position, you can hold and press the two holder hands back until the handset is kept stable.
Item number 4: The Car Charger
This is maybe the simplest gadget included in the set. It uses the cigar lighter receptacle to power LG Viewty via the compatible cable. The red LED light indicator shows when it’s connected.
Item number 5: The 9-in-1 Card Reader
It’s an USB card reader supporting nine card types. As you already know, you can insert your memory cards, including the microSD from LG Viewty, in the matching slots and connect the reader to your computer via a free USB port to transfer photos, music and other files.
Item number 6: The USB Bluetooth Dongle
This tiny device that plugs into your laptop’s USB port allows you to connect the LG Viewty to the computer wirelessly for file transfers between the devices. It features Bluetooth 2.0 + Enhanced Data Rate technology, wireless transfers within a 10-meter range and 3Mbps transfer speeds.
Included in the package is a compatibility software for with Windows 2000/XP/Vista 32-bit and 64-bit editions, while the adapter is downward compatible with previous versions of Bluetooth.
Item number 7: The Spare Battery
This is a spare battery that you can carry with you anywhere you go so you won’t have to worry about your handset’s battery running out in the middle of a phone call.
It comes in a small white box and features Li-Ion 3.7V 650 mAh, which should provide half the time of the battery powering your handset. LG Viewty uses a 1000mAh battery that allows you to talk continuously for up to four hours, or keep the handset in standby for up to 430 hours.
Item number 8: The Carry Pouch
The carry pouch is made from velvet on the inside and a soft leather-like material on the exterior. It has magnetic enclosure and three holes on a side through which you can release the stylus, while the larger one in the middle is for inserting a finger to push the handset out.
When you’re done composing the email message for your colleague using the LG Viewty’s touchscreen interface while in the desktop cradle, and finished transferring your pictures from the last trip to the computer via the Bluetooth dongle and memory card reader, you can grab the soft carry pouch, insert the cell phone and set it on the belt. You are ready to go out. Inside the car you have the two devices that protect the handset while driving, keeping it fully charged for later use.
You can get all of these useful accessories for LG Viewty KU990 from Mobile Fun, an online store where you’ll also find lots of other cool things for any cell phone model.
