Precautious people might realize that charging smartphones while traveling, such as at the airport, in the hotel room, at the office, or at school, could be risky because identity theft works great through the USB technology. To help you keep sensitive data protected, someone introduced a new little gadget called the LockedUSB. This USB device is easy to use and is actually an adapter that you only need to connect between your phone and the charger to automatically get all data lines disconnected during charging. This way intruders are kept away from personal data stored on your handset.
Official description of how the device works: “Inside the adapter we have a dedicated controller chip and current limiting power switch. An auto-detect feature monitors USB data line voltage, and automatically provides the correct electrical signatures on the data lines and allows portable devices to fast charge at their maximum rated current while keeping the data lines completely isolated.”
