LaCie Sound2 Laptop Speakers by Neil Poulton

Yesterday LaCie introduced a cool pair of laptop speakers called LaCie Sound2, designed by Neil Poulton and powered by the Cabasse technology. The speakers connect to the PC, Mac and portable media player via USB and also power while plugged in.
Like any other computer speakers, LaCie Sound2 dont require driver installation, and in addition the model features 30W total peak power output, 80Hz – 20kHz frequency response, and external power supply included.
Other specifications are:
- Digital Amplifier Class D amplifier;
- 16-bit / 48kHz signal processing and frequency;
- Magnetic Shielding and bass reflex system;
- 98.5dB@1m maximum acoustic peak level;
- A size of 200 x 140 mm at 1.51kg.
The speakers have a suggested retail price of $99.99.

I don’t like them – they look like they take way more space than the clasic rectangular speakers.
I agree and you can’t clean the front part (I don’t know how it’s called) from dust particles entering it, plus that laptop speakers should be portable and you can’t transport these in the same bag where you carry your laptop.
Yeah, it’s suitable to exhibit but not convenient when using. By the way, it’s nice design, huh?
