Shape Services announced that its IM+ instant messaging application designed for smartphones will be released in a new version featuring voice recognition.
I don’t remember hearing about other instant messaging software with this technology enabled, so IM+ must be the world’s first, but please correct me if I’m wrong.

When will you be able to use it? –Well, the company will first showcase it during the Wireless Enterprise Symposium in Orlando, Florida, between May 5-7, and will make it available for customers at the end of this month.
IM+ was developed in collaboration with Yap, the developer of award-winning speech recognition technologies.

Voice recognition is a cool new feature for an instant messaging application ran on your smartphone, enabling you to dictate to your handset text chat messages and then send them using voice commands. This way you’ll save time in chatting with your friends and colleagues over Facebook, AIM/iChat, MSN/Windows Live Messenger, Yahoo!, ICQ, Jabber, Google Talk and MySpaceIM.
The application is supported by the following mobile platforms: Windows Mobile Pocket PC, Windows Mobile Smartphone, Palm OS, iPhone/iPod Touch, BlackBerry RIM, Symbian UIQ, Symbian Series 80/90, J2ME, i-mode and Brew.
