Backjoy Posture+ Sitting Device Review

Technology advancements led to an improved lifestyle, but they also led to more people working sitting on a chair, as almost everything can be controlled via the computer, and bloggers, like me, make no exception. But besides enjoying to work over the Internet, I am also one of the people with spine problems, more exactly I suffer from scoliosis, which is a curvature of the spine. The good part is that I don’t have acute back pains and this curvature is not noticeable, but still I have moderate pains if I stand or sit in the same position for a long period of time. Although the ergonomic chair I use helps, I still need to raise my legs on the bed on the left, from time to time, to calm the back pain.

Not long ago I was lucky to receive a sample of a new product designed specifically to eliminate back pain by helping us to achieve the proper sitting posture. Posture+ is a small sitting device created by BackJoy, which you can use on any type of surface, such as your office chair, car seat and sofa, to keep your spine in the most natural position. The device is portable, lightweight and easy to use, so you can carry with you wherever you go.

The way it does good to your spine is simple. It uses your body’s own weight to change your stance and spinal alignment, correcting your poor sitting posture. Posture+ features the patented Applied Postural Science system that tilts your pelvis upright to relieve pressure while cupping the gluteal muscles. Your weight is more evenly distributed and so the pressure points are prevented from developing. In other words, it recreates the position and balance achieved when you stand straight up. This way, you feel increased comfort in the hips, tailbone, lower back and thighs.

In addition to the Applied Postural Science, Posture+ also features the Advanced Core Material, which is very durable and retains the shape while you sit on any surface, from your comfy home chair, to hard kitchen chairs. The device is covered in a special foam resin also used in Croc’s footwear, called Croslite, which is not only durable, but also waterproof and impact-absorbant. The core of Posture+ consists of aerospace-grade copolymer polypropylene plastic. With all these, it weighs less than one pound and you can sit on it indoors as well as outdoors. The supported body weight is between 120 and 300 pounds. You can find the BackJoy Posture+ available in black, orange, fuchsia, yellow, sea blue and red.

Mine is the black version and I’ve been using it since a few months. What I can tell you from experience is that I used the device on my ergonomic office chair on which I sit while writing blog posts, as well as on the kitchen chair while drinking my morning coffee, reading emails on the netbook. It worked since the first day, meanin I haven’t felt the need to keep my legs on the bed anymore, and I also got rid of the annoying back pains. On the hard chair in the kitchen, Posture+ moves with my body when I change my position, but without making me lose my balance.

Another thing I like is the small size. Regardless of how big or small you are, it fits you and doesn’t require a large chair; you can use Posture+ on any of your favorite spots and you won’t even feel it. I also noticed a nice scent coming from the material that covers it.

These being said, I invite you to check the BackJoy site and find out more about Posture+ and the other sitting solutions available. The device was just launched at a price of $39.99 and you can order one from the BackJoy Shop.
