April Fools Day Pranks From the Web
Published by Sierra Monica B. on April 2, 2012 under Tech Gadgets
Yesterday was the craziest day of the year, when many of us had the chance to make pranks for people around us, and some well-known stores or product developers released their ideas too. Here are some of the coolest pranks I found on the web yesterday:
Thermosaurus Radiator
This one was „designed” at the Artemy Lebedev studio and represents a heater shaped like a Tyrannosaurus skeleton. Thermosaurus would install like any other central-heating radiator and would be highly energy-efficient thanks to the structure constructed from cast iron, which would also support your clothing items.
Doxie Shreddie
In addition to the cute and useful Doxie portable scanner, Apparent introduced an innovative gadget that you could take with you everywhere you go and destroy paper documents, but with the possibility to put your paper back together in case you change your mind. This technology enables paper shredding and unshredding, according to Apparent and the new device is called Doxie Shreddie.
Sony Vaio Q
Immagine that now you have the chance to get your hands on the world’s smallest ultrabook, featuring a High Definition display of 0.75 x 1.25 inch. As crazy as it sounds, Sony announced the Vaio Q yesterday, along with the full specs list, and here we have 3D graphics, anti-glare coating, 100% color saturation, LED backlight, AMD Radeon HD 6650M of 1GB, and built-in Lithium Battery Coin, with optional docking station.
Google and Nascar Self-Driving Cars
Maybe you read about it yesterday. Well, the technology is not available yet, but maybe in the future, Nascar racers will be able to drive autonomous cars, like those announced by Google for their latest Google Racing partnership with Nascar.
Nokia Ice
Nokia Ice would have been the coolest invention of all time if it would have been real. Well, for some maybe it ws real, but only for yesterday, when the phone manufacturer announced the handset made entirely from ice. The device would charge while placed in the freezer, thanks to a new technology that uses chemical enervgy transfer, which would enable the endothermic reaction to capture cold instead of heat. The internal parts would remain intact thanks to the superhydrophofibic coating, while the screen is made from stretchable electronic skin and graphene.
Barbie Digital Fashion Styling Head for iPad
I can’t guess who would use this gadget, because the iPad is a professional tablet destined for serious applications, but let’s see what ThinkGeek.com came up with yesterday. Barbie Digital Fashion Styling Head for iPad consists of a styling head that attaches to the tablet, a brush, four touch-capacitive makeup accessories, and the so-called Barbie DreamSync Fashion Styling App featuring compatibility with both the iOS and Android. For $30 you would have had the possibility to turn your iPad into a Barbie doll with lots of makeup options. Too crazy to be true.
Virgin Volcanic Journey to the Center of the Earth
Yesterday, Virgin announced a new groundbreaking project called Volcanic, which consists of a super-complex vehicle made from carbon fibre, designed for plunging up to three people into the lava core of an active volcano. At first, the VV1 targets Etna, Yasur, Stromboli, Tinakula, and Ambrym volcanos.
MBT’s New Shoes With Built-in Camera
What would these sport shoes use an integrated camera for? Well, according to MBT, the Mahuta Neon Raven featuring patented sensor, pivot point and dynamic rolling action, all working together to simulate the walking barefoot, also have an 8MP camera capable to shoot 1080p High Definition videos while on the go. The new MBT model introduced yesterday this innovative Step & Shoot camera.
Flickrdither
Flickr introduced a new feature for your photos, called flickrdither, which gives them a new look at the press of the icon with two dots. Images are re-envisioned in black and white Atkinson Dither, eliminating many of the annoying megapixels. Rgly.
West-Jet Child-Free Cabins
Kargo Kids is a new travel program revealed yesterday by Wet-Jet airlines, to allow guests to travel on child-free flights, while their kids would travel in a special VIP area of the aircraft.
